Cockatiel Breeding Cages
Cockatiel breeding cages aren’t some newfangled, crazy contraptions that cockatiels need to go to in order to mate. They’re just regular cockatiel cages, albeit with some divisions that are primarily for keeping specific birds apart while a male and a female get a little acquainted alone.
Cockatiel breeding cages are designed with removable dividers throughout, so that you can determine how large the cage is, how many birds are able to mingle and socialize, and which two are picked for mating.
When it comes to cockatiel cages and dividers, there’s no lack of them on the market. Choosing which one is right for you comes down to personal preference for aesthetics and how many birds you own and/or want to mate.
Divider Cages for Cockatiel Mating
You’ll want to choose your cages wisely, as they’re not on the cheap end. While you won’t be taking out a second mortgage to afford one, they can get pretty pricey and quickly, depending on what your particular needs are.
Yaheetech Stackable Bird Cage
This cage is 21” high and has two rooms, divided by a removable center piece. Its all constructed of metal and is best for those who only have a handful of cockatiels and, when setting aside the two, the mating pair has plenty of room, as well as the others.
Hala Hotel Breeding Bird Cage
Double the rooms of the Yaheetech breeding cage, the Hala Hotel has four large and easily accessible doors and two major dividers that you can remove easily. Its 61” high and 40” wide, with a large amount of available space in each room, when the dividers are inserted.
Waimea Wingplex™ Double Decker
The Waimea is essentially two cages stacked on top of one another, with a center divider. It’s the opposite of the previous two cage in that it is much taller, with a narrower base. This is ideal if you want a little extra space to insert a breeding box for the cockatiels.
Final Thoughts
If you’re only breeding a couple of cockatiels, then the Yaheetech is more than enough. There’s no reason to drop a house payment on a breeding cage if you only have a couple of cockatiels, no matter who is advising you.
